Flash Fire Standards & Test Methods

Anyone can claim their clothing protects against flash fire hazards, but when your workers’ lives hang in the balance, you want to be absolutely certain. Various organizations, such as the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and ASTM International have developed testing-based standards to ensure clothing that claims to be FR truly will protect your workers. Click on the standards and test methods below to learn more.

NFPA 2112

Specifies the Minimum Design, Performance, Certification Requirements, and Test Methods for Flame-Resistant Garments for Use in Areas at Risk from Flash Fires.

NFPA 2113

Standard on the Selection, Care, Use, and Maintenance of Flame Resistant Garments for Protection of Industrial Personnel Against Flash Fire

ASTM F1930

Standard Test Method for Evaluation of Flame Resistant Clothing for Protection Against Flash Fire Simulations Using an Instrumented Manikin

ASTM F2733

Standard Specification for Flame Resistant Rainwear for Protection Against Flame Hazards

CAN/CGSB-155.20

Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) Standard for Workwear for Protection Against Hydrocarbon Flash Fire and Optionally Steam and Hot Fluids
