As part of National Safety Month, we’re highlighting a new safety topic each Friday in June. There was one safety topic that remained front and center over the course of the past year – you guessed it, arc-rated (AR) and flame resistant clothing (FRC) safety.
As COVID-19 unfolded, everyone entered into uncharted waters. Our experience was no different. We remained vigilant with constant monitoring of information to ensure any content we provided was accurate, responsible, and safe for essential workers in the industries we serve.
Today, we explain three COVID-19-related actions Tyndale took to keep both our employees and arc-rated and flame resistant (AR / FR) clothing wearers safe during the height of the pandemic.
1) Mask Mandates & Manufacturing
Early in the crisis, mask mandates went into effect across the country. Tyndale realized that there would be an immediate need for AR / FR facemasks, that offer protection from the virus, while retaining AR / FR qualities to protect workers in the event of a thermal hazard. Tyndale pivoted our manufacturing and supply chain rooted in North America from making AR / FR shirts and pants, to constructing almost 1 million AR / FR facemasks.
2) Vetting & Sharing Safety Information
Tyndale closely followed all credible, emerging science. We carefully vetting the information, analyzing it for any implications related to AR / FR clothing and PPE, and sharing our findings with workers daily so you could make safe and informed decisions.
3) Proper Use of Disinfectants
Many people resorted to heavy use of bleach and other harsh disinfectants to clean common areas, trucks, tools, and the like. Tyndale took it upon ourselves to do original research into what type and quantity of disinfectants were safe to use around AR / FR clothing and provide best practices on how best to disinfect while wearing AR / FR clothing.
Join Scott Margolin, Tyndale’s Vice President of Technical, as he explains Tyndale’s process for assessing taking COVID-19 related actions in benefit of our end-user safety.
We were able to share products and information rapidly by working closely with safety professionals in the industry and posting daily educational videos. Wearers could easily review important AR / FR safety during COVID-19 information from their computer, tablet, or mobile device. We made sure to feature the latest information prominently on our website to simplify and streamline this content for our readers. Plus, we created a COVID-19 resource center so this information was easily found, viewed, and shared. We hope you found this information useful and that it helped you navigate this unprecedented crisis.
